Dangote Promises to sell Forex to Banks come 2020

The President, Dangote Industries, Aliko Dangote, has said his company should be able to generate about 12,000 megawatts of electricity for the country by 2018.

He also said that his business estate would start selling foreign exchange to the Central Bank of Nigeria by 2020.

Dangote, who spoke in Lagos on Monday at the Nigerian Economic Summit organised by Economist Events, an arm of The Economist of London, said, “We are looking at a situation that by 2020, we will be the one selling FX to the CBN. Our projects are mainly import substitution. We are working to be self-sufficient to grow about a million tonnes of rice over the next five years.

“Our gas project would have our gas pipelines on the seabed. The output should be able to provide about 12,000MW of power. We see a lot of transformation when we are done with most of our projects by 2018.

“We have 15 countries in the ECOWAS community that are duty-free. The export market is big and profitable if you have the capacity. Players in the manufacturing (sector) should be encouraged to export if they have the capacity. We must also meet local consumption.”

Dangote said the fall in crude oil price was not a curse and that the nation must use the opportunity to explore the potential in other sectors of the economy.

He said, “This is the right moment to pursue the diversification of the economy, which we have been talking about. I know that once oil gets back to $80 per barrel, we will go back to the same misbehaviour.

“But I think this is the right time for that. Government must come up with the right policy, because if we don’t do it now, we may not do it. But low prices do not mean doom. In 1998-1999, the price of oil was $9. What we need to do is just to block the leakages and pursue diversification.”

According to Dangote, the monthly revenue inflow from oil, which used to be $3.2bn, is now around $1bn, and this has caused a number of challenges for businesses in the country.

“There are some areas where we are facing serious challenges and there are some where we are not. It depends on your business model. If your business model is to import 100 per cent, definitely, you will be facing challenges, because the inflow of foreign exchange is not where it used to be a year and a half ago,” he added.

The Group Managing Director, Access Bank Plc, Mr. Herbert Wigwe, on his part, said a number of manufacturers were facing hard times due to their inability to access forex to buy raw materials.

According to him, there is a need to explore import substitution, while efforts are being made to boost forex supply in the country.

Wigwe said, “We have a lot of manufacturers who have to rely on forex for their raw materials but who are going through tough times. However, are there opportunities? I believe there are. I think it is time for us to move towards import-substitution. But I think we need to do things to support the supply side of forex and liberalise the market.

“Even for those who have to source their raw materials locally, there is a value chain effect. If the entire value chain in a production process is not sorted out, we will have a problem. So, access to foreign currencies for raw materials is important. However, it is important that people start looking at how to use local raw materials to produce.”

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Okechukwu Enelamah, said the Federal Government was focusing on creating an enabling business environment to attract investment and fast-track industrialisation.

He noted that efforts were being made to give adequate support to Micro, Small and Medium-scale Enterprises.

Enelamah said, “The key is to create the right incentive, regulation and policy so that people can work with them and do more locally than just importing. The other thing I should mention is that Nigeria has an industrial revolution plan developed by the last government, but the plan needs to be revisited.

“We need to look beyond the rhetorics and actually implement what we are talking about, because I believe that if we implement them, we will get better result.”

The minister added that the government of President Muhammadu Buhari had made employment, local production and inclusive economy growth its top priorities

We have no reason to doubt the business mogul, he is not a politician that have to make empty promises just to attract attention

State Where President Buhari is Desperately Searching for Oil

NNPC director Baru advised investors where to search oil in Nigeria – He listed six areas where there are prospects of oil and gas in the country Oil in NE Dr. Maikanti Baru, the group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has listed six areas where the government of Muhammadu Buhari is searching for oil.

Mr Baru was speaking while receiving the leadership of National Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) led by its national president Nosa Omorodion in Abuja on August 25, Thursday.

He advised the association to explore the hydrocarbon potentials of green frontier basins in six areas in order to increase the reducing reserves in the country. Baru stated that the Nigerian authorities would be willing to make provisions for inducements for such prospective investors.

The areas where there are prospects of oil and gas listed by NNPC director are:

1. The Chad Basin,
2. Anambra,
3. Bida,
4. Dahomey,
5. Gongola/Yola
6. Benue
He further advised NAPE to play a key role in endorsing public private partnership in the exploration of some of the green frontier basins. On his own part, Omorodion, the president of NAPE, felicitated with the GMD on his appointment, saying that NAPE would confer on him a honourary membership award which was the highest award from the association due to his outstanding track records in the Nigerian oil and gas industry in November this year.

Following President Buhari’s order, the exploration of crude oil has officially started in the north-east of Nigeria two weeks ago.

Beginning of a new Social Order and End to some Billionaires

Ismarck Rewane, a brilliant business economist and chief executive of Financial Derivatives Ltd based in Lagos, has joined the pantheon of seers. Just before Muhammadu Buhari was sworn in as Nigeria’s president on May 29, 2015, he said on a program on Classic Radio 97.3 FM that many Nigerian business executives would become ex- millionaires in a matter of months. Rewane’s reason was simple: with Buhari’s creating a new social order based on the rule of law and transparency, many government contractors would be out of business. Truth be told, most of the contractors are just rent seekers, business fronts of those in power. Since the very day Buhari assumed office, Emeka Offor, perhaps the most controversial government contractor from Anambra State ever, has not paid staff salaries. Not only have his offices in Abuja closed down in the past one year, as SaharaReporters has just accurately revealed, the extremely flamboyant politician has not been able to bury his father who died in February. He is determined to spend a fortune on the father’s burial, as he did on January 3, 2015, when he celebrated his third marriage in his village where very expensive musicians like P-Square and Flavor played. The essence is so as to sustain the façade of a super rich business tycoon, but the resources are unfortunately no longer forthcoming.
The simple truth is that Offor is now an ex millionaire. He is not alone in this club of ex- millionaires, which, in fact, is growing rapidly. Offor’s free fall became public knowledge because a lot of people have rather been celebrating his predicament; this owes to his unsavory relationship with not only family members but also most people from his hometown of Oraifite in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State. We will explain shortly why his townspeople celebrate his present acute business crisis. If it were in the days of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Offor and other Aso Rock contractors, as President Buhari reportedly described him before his chief of staff Abba Kyari, none of them would have been allowed to experience any form of discomfort. The national treasury was practically handed over to the so-called Big Boys by the PDP, which delighted in referring to the rent seekers as party financiers. It was an era of culture of impunity. Here are just a few examples. Towards the end of May of 2014, the National Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) ordered 22 banks in the country where Offor’s Chrome Group had accounts to freeze them because of a 9.2 billion naira debt owed the defunct African Express Bank (AFEX), owned by Offor. The NDIC even went before Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court in Abuja to enforce the order. However, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti’s “government magic” came into play. The NDIC overnight accepted a paltry N1bn as full and final payment for the N14bn debt. This was on June 12, 2014. No reason was given for the acceptance. But everyone knew that Goodluck Jonathan’s presidency directed the financial regulator to lay off a most beloved son. In 2013, Offor’s Interstate Electrics was described by the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) and the National Council on Privatization (NCP) as grossly incapable of doing the business of electric power distribution because it did not possess the technical competence or financial resources. They, therefore, disqualified the consortium from bidding for any of the country’s 11 electricity distribution companies. However, within 72 hours, Jonathan’s presidency directed the NCP to declare Interstate the preferred bidder for not just the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company but also the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company. Interstate Electrics thus became the first and only consortium to become the preferred bidder for two DisCos! The Jonathan government then pleaded with Offor to choose the DisCo it wanted-- and it picked Enugu. Does anyone still wonder why the privatization of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) assets under Jonathan remains a big mess to this day, providing the nation more darkness than light? Despite the blacklisting of Offor following the recommendation of a committee headed by the legendary Aret Adams in the 1990s for the monumental fraud and incompetence exhibited by his company in the turn-around maintenance (TAM) contracts of both the 115,000 per day barrel Warri and the 150,000 barrel per day New Port Harcourt refineries during the Sani Abacha regime, the Jonathan government furtively awarded the TAM contract for both the New Port Harcourt and the Old Port Harcourt 60,000 barrel per day refinery to Offor’s Chrome in 2014 for an undisclosed amount. It is safe to assume that both the government which awarded the contract and the contractor were not really interested in fixing the refineries because no attempt was made to get the job done until Jonathan was defeated in the March 2015 presidential election. With the defeat, Offor quickly mobilized to site and promised that the refineries would come on stream in September, 2015. All the media in Nigeria, both print and electronic, carried the propaganda with flourish. It is almost a year now but there is absolutely nothing to show for it. The rehabilitation was abandoned almost as soon as it started. But Jonathan is not the only president who empowered Offor with impunity. The Olusegun Obasanjo administration is perhaps more guilty. Obasanjo gave him a ChevronTexaco oil bloc in his last days in 2007 on what The Wall Street Journal called sweetheart terms. The deal became an international scandal. In addition, Obasanjo awarded him the Bauchi- Yola electricity transmission line job for a price that made the World Bank protest openly. The same government handed over to him Nigeria’s interest in the Nigeria-Sao Tome and Principe Joint Development Zone, enabling Offor to become the Lord of the Manor in this small two- island nation. Obasanjo also gave Offor contracts for river channelization in Edo and Ondo states, among other places, which were not executed despite full payments. Obasanjo’s government provided Offor with police support and other forms of state assistance to fight the Chinwoke Mbadinuju government in Anambra State from 1999 to 2003, so that the ground would be prepared for Andy Uba, his Friday man, would become the state governor. Therefore, it is very strange for Obasanjo to claim in an interview with Premium Times published on August 5, 2015, to be innocent of creating the Frankenstein monster known as Offor. No one is fooled by the claim. It is known to many Nigerians that Offor had been boasting openly how he capitalized on Obasanjo’s greed to deal with him ruthlessly. Offor has a reputation of swindling public officers once they are out of power. When former Vice President Atiku Abubakar went to Offor’s Abuja residence three years ago straight from Dubai to ask for his share of the businesses Offor did on his behalf while he was in public office from 1999 to 2007, the government contractor brought out a machete and threatened to slaughter Atiku. The ex vice president fled for his life in broad daylight! Against this background, political watchers are skeptical that ex-President Jonathan, his wife Patience and erstwhile Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo would ever receive anything from Offor who was their business agent when they were in government. Finally, back to Offor’s relationship with his kinsmen in Oraifite, Anambra State, who have been rejoicing since the controversial government contractor fell on hard times. During in particular the time of Mohammed D. Abubakar as the Inspector General of Police, many of our townsfolk were arrested in a most humiliating manner and detained for months with hardened criminals for having personal disagreements with Offor. Some of these individuals went to court against the police and won. It never ceases to amaze one how M.D. Abubakar reduced the police leadership to a Gestapo in the hands of a barely literate private individual, who was a driver with Julius Berger construction firm. The consolation is that all our people deprived of their humanity by the police are in the process of suing Offor and Abubakar to their last kobo. It says something profound about the culture of abomination which the PDP imposed on Nigeria for a whole 16 years that so-called business tycoons like Offor could not pay staff salaries from the very day Buhari became Nigeria’s president. We salute Buhari for insisting on things being done properly. The era of the Nigerian state serving as a cow to be milked almost to death by a few rapacious individuals is gone. We are now in a new social order.

President Buhari still an Unrepented Tyrant

Since its a season when bloggers/publishers and even member of the general public are being arrested for criticizing the government of the day, its only normal for one to become scared of writing or saying anything that might seems offensive/insulting to the government of the day. But not me, if anything I would want this to get to the highest authority in the country, so the can send their official bull dogs the DSS or any other security agency after me, because I AM TIRED.
I am tired about the way this country is being govern!  I am tired to see the dreams of our youth ware away before our very own eye!  I am tired that majority of Nigerians especially the youth has given up hope about a brighter future of our beloved Nigeria, I am tired of Government failing us after giving us so much hope about their agenda.
President Buhari should realize that, the change that brought him to power was a revolution that should begot a fresh start for the country, he should not take us back to the military era, a situation that demands a military ruler to rule his people like a dictator and treat them with iron hand and fear, in other to discourage any idea of a coup. This is a democratic Nigeria, our leaders are suppose to be scared of us not the other way around.
People may think that I went a little to far by calling our president a tyrant." A tyrant is any person who abuses the power of a position or office to treat others unjustly, cruelly, or harshly"
from this definition, one can easily relates some of the actions of our president to an act of tyranny.
-  What concerns President Muhammadu Buhari with an individual that decides to name his pet dog Buhari
Why send the police after him and charge him to court, someone that is already living below the minimum standard of living, how can he afford a good lawyer, that was harsh
 -  What concerns the Presidency with picking a fight with the Emir of Kano for suggesting ideas to move the country forward, the presidency actually release a statement to state that they would not be fighting with the Emir
-    What concerns the president with charging a serving senate president to court. The senate president is suppose to be presiding over a National Assembly that should checkmate the excesses of the Executives (the presidency). This looks like an attempt to belittle the power and authority of the House
-   What concerns the president requesting for the arrest of bloggers and categorize them as National threat! lookd like s joke

This country Nigeria is faced with so much problems to be bothered about who makes his dog your namesake, even the so-called anti corruption war is seen by most Nigerians as being Bias, and the President even made it clear to the general public that his development agenda is going to be Biased, that areas where he got more votes will enjoy much attention and development that areas that he did not get much support, I saw this news and thought maybe he was carried away with his victory at the polls,

I would not want to write much by itemizing the cumbersome challenges this country is facing and the numerious vices of this present government, I want to believe that according to the senate president Bukola saraki a cabal has hijack authority in Aso rock.
This post more than anything is to make people in authority sit up and take governance seriously, instead of taking the opportunity to live like a king, like our dear minister of interior allowed his Secret service bodyguard to shine his shoes.  The should take the opportunity to leave a legacy and think of a clever way to get results even if it means having sleepless nights like the state minister of petroleum claims to have.

This is a Wake up call for not just the President but for all those in Power, Stop making the problem of Africa 'Bad leadership', Sit up and think!

How We Shared the $390,000 given to us by the Japanese Surgeon - Siasia

Coach of the Nigerian U-23 team that won Bronze in the just concluded Olympic games Samson Siasia has explained how the money given to them by Japanese Plastic surgeon and billionaire Katsuya Takasu was shared.

The doctor had given the team $390,000 to share for winning the bronze medal, Nigeria’s only medal, at the Olympics.

Siasia also criticised the Nigerian Football Federation for their objections to the money gifted to the team saying that the investigations called for by the top dogs in the federation were unnecessary.

“What actually happened is that the man was just curious how a team that was neglected and abandoned could arrive Rio under five hours and defeat the Japanese team that had all they needed and have been put together for over three years, that was his amazement.” Siasia said explaining what transpired.

He continued, “These guys who are saying they want to do all manner of checks, what have they done for us? Do you know that since we returned, nobody from the NFF or Ministry has called us to say that we did well. The president came and just talked and that was it, well it is not the first time he will be talking.

“When players don’t even have $100 dollars in their pocket and you want to come and preach to them.” Siasia said the entire amount of $390,000 was shared equally among all the members of the team including the supporting staff.

“The Japanese benefactor said $200,000 and $190,000 was supposed to be for bronze medal and it was split among the players and officials equally. It is not my personal money and this must be made clear.

“What I got was what every other player of official in the team got about $14,000 dollars each. The man came to Salvador where we played and gave $200,000 as draft to me and $190,000 to Mikel because he cannot write cheque to every member of the team, he made it simpler so that we all can share the money and now we are paying to the individual accounts of the boys.
“So make this issue clear to everybody that has been following it, the money was never meant for me or Mikel alone but for the entire team including the doctors and other backroom staff”

Why APC Candidate Godwin Obaseki Would Win the PDP Osagie Ize-iyamu EDO2016

As September 10th draws near Edo people are vigorously warming up to decide who is going to govern them for the next four years between Godwin Obaseki of the APC and controversial Pastor Ize-Iyamu.
Without doubt the APC party bigwigs should realize that it won't be an easy task to be victorious against the ever popular Ize-iyamu's PDP like it was in Com. Adam Oshiomole re-election in 2012 where the Comrade Governor defeated the then PDP candidate Maj.Gen. Charles Arhiavbere in all 18 local government. The 2016 PDP candidate Pst Osagie Ize-iyamu should be treated to optimum seriously, the threat he has to upset the party in power is very real despite his affairs with the "WORST" government in EDO state (the Lucky Igbinedion Government 1999-2007). The PDP candidate is popularly themed a political Bulldozer by his fans and followers because of all his political manipulation and activities.
But regardless of all this facts and the unpopularity of the APC candidate, I still see the Edo people electing Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki of the APC as their Governor come September 10th because of the following reasons:

The Unpopularity Of The APC Candidate:

Popularity in politics is usually brewed over a period of time through ones public activism. Popularity can either be positive and negative. Now the PDP candidate Pst Ize-Iyamu is very popular mostly because of his time in the Lucky Igbinadion PDP government which can be interpreted as a negative popularity, he is trying to change all that through his speeches and various awareness programs but that can spell to be a medicine too late for some voters who only see him as an investment of  the Igbinadion's.
The APC candidate Mr Godwin Obaseki is relatively unknown which is a good plat form for him to start on a neutral ground. Since people have little or no record of his public activity, one has no reason to doubt him about his agenda and his ability to deliver. He can back on his zero popularity to win the election and then crave a name for himself through his activity has a Governor. The only Popularity Godwin Obaseki have its his popular surname 'OBASEKI'.

Good Public Record

Democracy in Nigeria has matured and has reshaped the trend of politics in Nigeria, the future of a politician is as good as his public records. A Politician can only win election if he has a good public record, like Adams Oshiomole winning the 2007 gubernatorial election (became popular through his activities as the President Nigeria Labour Congress) and  maj.gen Charles Arhiavbere lost his 2012 Governor bid because of his poor military records (the military-pension saga).
Since the Edo 2016 campaign started the PDP has not been able to dent the personality of Mr Godwin Obaseki the APC candidate and all his public activity has been transparent enough and error free. His time as the leader of the Edo state Economic and Strategic team (EST) from 2009 till date and his team as member of the Presidential advisory board has No ,meaningful corruption scandal whatsoever. Unlike his opponent pastor Ize-Iyamu who has a poor public record during his time as secretary to Edo state Government and as P.a to Lucky Igbinadion as Chairman Oredo Local Government. Although he claims as Secretary he has little or no impact on the performance of the then Governor but being in the cabinet of that Government alone has dent his image and this will affect his ratings in the polls

  Financial Base Of the Candidates

In Nigeria politics Today, popularity can take you thus far but MONEY will ultimately win you the election, its works concurrently. The rumored #213million campaign bill board that has flood the major roads in Benin city and that that enclave the popular kings square is a testament of how much money Godwin Obaseki still has to spend, being able to campaign with such expensive sign post all over the major highways in Benin shows you how much financial backings the APC candidate has. Its rumored that among his sponsors is the richest black man alive Alhaji Aliko Dangote  whom he has served as an economic adviser to. This goes to show the level the APC candidate is operating at.
Although the PDP has been trying to win voters by drawing attention to the expensive sign post that Godwin Obaseki has placed on All Major Highway in Benin City. Citing that it is uncalled for and irrational at a time like this when the state can not afford to pay salaries of Local Government Workers and retrenching some of the State workers.
But people should be tempted to think for once that this might not be the governors doing , or necessarily be finance from government purse. His personality might get him such expensive sign post voluntarily or it might even be his personal money.
Being able to campaign with such expensive style goes to show you how resourceful Godwin Obaseki can be and how Edo state has grown from a Old and ancient City to one of the most viable, enviable and intimidating city in the Country.

Godwin Obaseki Intimidating CV

A lot has been said about the APC governor candidates about not being able to present his original credentials, and the talk that he might actually not even be a graduate after all. Rational thinking will show that its mere speculation that a man will attain this much career success without being qualified. Compared to the PDP governorship candidate who opted to study political science instead of Law that was offered to him by the Great University Of Benin, Uniben. the APC guber candidate Gowin Obaseki possess an intimidating career achievement. having graduated from the prestigious University of Ibadan, UI Godwin Obaseki proceeded to the United states where he attended Pace University in Newyork and obtained an MBA  in Finance and international Business. Godwin Obaseki has excel as an investment banker and has help reshaped the face of banking in Nigeria. He has built the most trusted financial investment advisory board in the continent as pioneer chiarman of AFRINVEST. Godwin Obaseki is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stock Brokers, Nigeria, and his antecedents is recognized globally, hence he was nominate Global leader of Tomorrow (GLT) by the World Economic Forum 2001.

Political Party Records

The two major political party in Edo State has been tested. The PDP was in power for solid two term of 8years and another 2year before the appeal court decision that brought the APC into power. The APC have been tested for 8years and so far they have been a better party for the state. The APC in Edo state controoled by the ever dogged comrade governor has been able to deliver on most of his campaign manifestos and has promise for continuity if the party is given the chance once more. It will be an Hercules task to take Edo back to the Party that stayed in power for 8years doing nothing, they were just comfortable receiving monthly allocation to pay salaries then share the rest. The APC came and turn Edo state into a state to reckon with in Nigeria, a state which the World Bank is ready to partner with ti enhance development through their Millennium Development Goals.

Godwin Obaseki Deputy Governor

When Barr. Ken Imasuagbon rejects the opportunity to contest as running mate for Godwin Obaseki the Party would not have any other better choice than Rt Hon Philip Shiabu a.k.a Mr Constituency project. Only Hon Pally Iraise the man from otuo village I personally saw as an alternative to Philip Shiabu.
Anywhere the name Philip Shiabu is mentioned one is force to recall an eloquent and passionate lawmaker, He serves as the minority leader during his time in the Edo State house o Assembly and was known for his passionate appeal for community development to fast track state and National development.
He remains among the few politician today  in Edo state that is Yet To Lose An Election. His goodluck might just be the defining factor for Godwin Obaseki Victory.

The Man Called Oshiomole

Comrades Adams Aliyu Oshiomole remains the only man that has emerged from his senatorial district to become Governor of Edo State, but the impact he has had on the state will be felt for centuries to come. He came to demonstrate to the people that Governance is a serious business that needs sound ideas and strong political will. I would not write much about the cumbersome achievement of this rare gem because his glory is on the lips of every Edo Indigens alive, Small or Old, Boy or Girl. Ever wonder why most Nigerians thought a man like the Comrade governor as the President of Nigeria will instantly solve the problem of bad leadership in this country, and I see an agenda to promote the Comrade Governor for Presidency come 2019. #Comrade2019. Adams Aliyu Oshimole For President 2019. If not for tribalism there is no better candidate suitable for presidency than the Comrade Governor from Edo state

My Voluntary Work

I finally decided to do some voluntary work for the APC candidate and i volunteered to help organize community congregation, when the Local Government Campaign Team of the APC visited Evhabogun community in Ikpoba-Okha L.G.A ward 9.
While canvassing for community member to convene at the venue of the meeting, I was meant with lot of derogating and infuriating comments by members of my community and further questioning will show that most of this individual do not have a concrete reason for despising the Godwin Obaseki, most of them does mainly because of some harsh Federal government policies which will soon ware away. By provoking their thought and broading their thinking I was able to convince a handful of individual why we even need a 3 term of APC in Edo state and not to try our Old way with the PDP.

India Schools Writes Latter to Parents

Some schools in Kolkata India sent this latter to parents a few weeks before their exams...

Dear Parent,

The exams of your children are to start soon. I know you are all really anxious for your child to do well.

But, please do remember, amongst the students, who will be sitting for the exams, there is an ARTIST, who doesn't need to understand maths.

There is ENTREPRENEUR, who doesn't care about History or English literature.

There is a MUSICIAN, whose Chemistry marks won't matter.

There is a SPORTSPERSON, whose physical fitness is more important than Physics.

If your child does get top marks, that's great! But, if he or she doesn't, please don't take away their self-confidence and dignity from them.

Tell them it's OK, it's just an exam! They are cut out for much bigger things in life.
Tell them, no matter what they score, you love them and will not judge them.

Please do this, and when you do, watch your children conquer the world. One exam or low mark won't take away their dreams and talent.

And please, do not think that doctors and engineers are the only happy people in the world.

With Warm Regards,
The Principal

Another Blogger Arrested In Bauchi

A blogger, Musa Babale Azare have been arrested by men of the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja for allegedly criticizing Bauchi state governor, Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar.

According to eye witnesses, policemen picked up Musa at Zone 7 in a vehicle with registration number YDB217AA and drove him to an unknown destination.
It no Longer funny that this present administration is encroaching on the right of the people. The Nigeria constitution gave us the right to express ourselves freely, this is indeed a sad development.

A hash tag #FreeMusaAzareNow has already been set up to demand for the release of the blogger.

This is coming barely two weeks after a popular blogger, Abubakar Sadiq was arrested by the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC).

Muslims: The Most Honest People On Earth

The National Economic Submit 2016 Organize by the Nigerian Association Of Academics and Authors (NAAA), and National Association Of Post Graduate Student (NAPS) UNIBEN Chapter has come and gone, and One secret tip of excelling in Business and entrepreneurship the guest speaker DR Godwin Ehigiamosoe (Founder and MD LAPO MIcrofinance Bank) mentioned was HONESTY.
According to him Honesty in business help markets your  business and its become profitable only on a Long-run basis. Honesty they say is a Fruit of the Holy spirit but its found today among few Christians doing business. Critically analyzing it, common sense will tell you that being honest in your dealings is a win-win even if not immediately, but it helps promotes your faster than any advertising agency can ever do.

A careful Analytic study of the trend of successful businesses in Nigeria will show you that the Muslim, particularly the Hausa's are more successful in Businesses than any other section (Religion or Tribe). Economist will think its as a result of their Unity that helps them form cartels in any business they venture into, although that cannot be wrong, but one thing predominantly common with this people (Hausa's Muslims) are their Honesty when doing Business. Whether they are in the Dollar exchange business ( Bureau D' Change), Gold selling business Cattle rearing business etc. They all possesses that character of Honesty in their dealings. Little wonder why individuals will purchase Gold from an 'aboki' who you just meant at the market and does not have a store and one will be rest assured that its original
Their Business of Honesty depicts in all areas of their dealing, from their fair price to their kind gesture and patient manner of talking, these are among the things I respect their Koran for.

Am not a religion fanatic or a devoted Muslim, contrary to that am a devoted Christian and this is just a rational thinking and a challenge to all Young Entrepreneur and business men and women to try and be Honesty in their dealings and shun "quick" profit making in your business. An honest business man will only lose a little Now but gains much more later. Only does businesses that is built upon Trust, Honesty and Delivery can stand the test of time

Regardless of the Hate we might have in our heart towards this set of people because of the atrocities of Boko Haram we should not let it divides us, there are still lots of things we can love and learn from the Muslims

Nigeria Internet Fraudsters/Scammers has Become A Global Problem

It cannot be Overemphasize how deeply internet fraud has eaten into the acceptable norms and culture in the Nigeria society, Internet scam became popular in the 20th century generation when there was an unprecedented increase in the population of workable Young men in Nigeria (between the ages of 16-39). The reason for its popularity cannot be far fetch. Imagine a generation that was not planned for, a generation that was born to improvised for itself, a generation that grew up to met things messed up, a generation were an internet fraudster has a brighter chance of becoming successful in life than a first class University graduate. All that was planned for this generation was for us to hustle out things the way we see fit and be a burden to ourselves.
Since the World has decided to leave Nigerians to their Problem (Of Bad Leadership) the opportune ones were able to travel overseas for greener pasture, the ones left here were forced to find a means of survival.
Before it was a means of survival, Now Internet fraud has become the predominate business of most Nigerians and the mainstay for virtually all Nigeria youths. The societal structure and cyber crime policing enabled the trend to grow unabated
Nigerian Internet Fraudsters are no longer comfortable in operating in their own Country, because of the stiff international regulations On African countries especially Nigeria and the unfavorable working condition cause by the level development in the country that is serving as constraints in exercising their fraudulent act.  Internet fraudsters are now forced to travel to some susceptible country to perpetrate their acts. these are among the reasons why there is a new trend of Nigerian internet Fraudsters Traveling to Malaysia, India, South Africa, Ghana etc to further intensify their act

Nigeria Internet Fraudsters has got to a crisis level and it should be treated like a global problem if there is going to be a headway. Internet scamming among youth in Nigeria as become highly contiguous and more communicable than the dreaded Ebola virus because modern day Nigerian takes pride in doing it as a profession, to the extent that any persons seen operating a laptop is an Internet Scammer (Yahoo boy)and this shows why it is now being spread to other part of Africa and the World.
Discussing about the Reasons and Impact of this act in Nigeria and to the rest of the World would be too cumbersome. From causing inflation, creating vacuum in necessary and relevant sector of the economy, to causing pains and depression to vulnerable and emotional victims. etc

But the underlying facts remains that any further negligence by World Body would further spell disaster to vulnerable internet users especially in the more sophisticated Countries of the World.

Understandably International Organization such as the United Nations are Busy warring for world peace, other relevant agency that are capable of organizing and harmonizing  Nations should step up to this challenge and help make a safe cyber system for its users, by putting together a think tank to help phantom an adverse solution to this global problem

Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) Vows to declare South-South Independent On October 1st

Avengers vow to declare Niger Delta Independence on October 1

Niger Delta Avengers, the militant group giving mixed signals regarding dialogue with the federal government, has vowed to declare the Niger Delta region an independent entity on October 1, 2016.On Wednesday, Ballantyne Agiri, “spokesman” for the dialogue group of the Avengers, had indicated the readiness of the group to engage the federal government in dialogue in order to resolve the lingering crisis.

However, Mudoch Agbinibo, spokesman of the Avengers, denied the report while saying that “Ballantyne Agiri” was not authorised to speak for the militant group.

In a statement released on the website of the Avengers on Thursday, Agbinibo maintained that the Niger Delta no longer wants to be part of Nigeria.

“Our prayer for Buhari and the Northern hypocrite (Northern Governors) is that oil should be found in commercial quantity in the North, so they can let the Niger Delta go.

“The Buhari-led government has fail Nigerians with their misdirected policies that has divide the country,as such nobody wants to be part of that failed state not even the Niger Delta.

“The October 1st, declaration of independence is still sacrosanct. If the Nigeria government fails to retrace it’s step by restructuring this country, we want to warn the general public that the day of reckoning is close for those using NDA to defraud people.”

A similar statement released by the Avengers in May 2016 had said that

“by October 2016 we will display our Currency, Flag, Passport, our ruling Council and our Territory to the world.

“To the United Nations, we are not asking for much but to free the people of the Niger Delta from environmental pollution, slavery, and oppression. We want a country that will turn the creeks of the Nigerdelta to a tourism heaven, a countrythat will achieve its full potentials, acountry that will make health care system accessible by everyone.

“With Niger delta still under the country Nigeria we can’t make it possible. So we are calling on the Ban Ki-Moon Secretary General United Nations and all Heads of the government of the five Permanent Security Council members to come to the aid of Niger delta people. We are calling on world leaders to come to the Niger delta to see the atrocities committed by the Nigeria government.”
The NDA believes they are freedom fighters agitating for the will of the populace. But from my own perspective, I don't think breaking Nigeria into smaller Nations is going to speeding the necessary development we need.. I think the Federal Government need to listen to the threat of this group and at least conduct a referendum to understand if this is what majority of Nigerians need.

Riddles For The Day

Ogbonnaya Onu Rejects Gov Umahi Gift Worth about N116million

The Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, has rejected the Toyota SUV given to him by the Ebonyi State Government.
The minister, in a letter to Governor Dave Umahi, said he rejected the gift because the laws of the state excluded him from persons eligible to collect such gifts.
The letter was exclusively obtained by PREMIUM TIMES.
Quoting copiously from the constitution, Mr. Onu called the governor’s attention to the relevant sections of the constitution and how the state House of Assembly abused its powers to technically edge him out of his deserved pension, being a former governor of Abia State.
He wrote, “It is important that I draw your attention to provision of Section 124(5) of the 1999 constitution as amended which states that:
“Provisions may be made a law of a House of Assembly for the provision of person to or in respect of a person who has held the office of a governor or deputy governor and was not removed from office as a result of impeachment and any pension granted by virtue of any provision made in pursuance of the subsection shall be a charge upon the consolidated revenue fund of the state.”
Mr. Onu then added, “Instructively, a law enacted by the Ebonyi State House of Assembly titled: Ebonyi State Special Offices Pensions and Related Matters Law 2007, section 3 defined a Governor as a ‘Civilian Governor of or from Ebonyi State of Nigeria'”.
“Rather curiously, four years later, the same House of Assembly enacted a law, Ebonyi State Special Offices Pensions and Related Matters Law (amendment) law 2011 wherein a governor was defines as ‘a civilian Governor of Ebonyi State of Nigeria.”
Mr. Onu said it was clear from the foregoing that he was the target of the change “in an apparent design to deny me of my due pension entitlement.”
“This is especially so in the circumstance where it is the duty of the state government to do so as a responsibility of the sharing of assets between Ebonyi and Abia states. You will recall that I was the first elected Governor of Abia state, in which a part later became a constituent part of Ebonyi State.”
The minister therefore urged the governor to initiate steps to redress the injustice done to him in the interest of fairness, justice and respect for the constitution of the country.
“Laws are not made to suit personal prejudices. Laws are made to serve enduring attribute
Accordingly, in view of the prevailing circumstance, I regret to inform you that I cannot accept the gift of a Lexus Sports Utility vehicle. I do so with a deep sense of responsibility and conscious of the important need to build a better Ebonyi State where respect for the rule of law and the peoples’ will as well as the pursuit of their happiness will remain sacred.
Mr. Onu is the second personality to reject exotic car gifts distributed to former Governors Sam Egwu and Martin Elechi and erstwhile Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim.
The SUVs, which cost N29 million each or a total of N116 million, was rejected by Mr. Elechi, who also wrote to the governor returning the car.
It is not however unclear if Messrs Egwu and Anyim accepted theirs.
The duo have remained silent on the matter despite prodding from the media and people of the state.
s of good conscience honour and equity,” Mr. Onu wrote.

Japanese Multi-Millionaire falls in love with the Nigeria Dream Team VI

A Japanese plastic surgeon Katsuya Takasu who says he's fallen in love with the Nigeria's Under 23 team at Rio Olympics has promised to give each player of the squad $30,000 if they win Gold, $20,000 if they win silver and $12,000 for bronze.

According to the very rich Dr. Katsuya Takasu, he fell in love with Samson Siasia's men after seeing them surmount financial difficulties to qualify for the semi-final of the football event.

He also stated that he will still reward the team whether they win or not, as according to him it is an act of bravery to advance to the last four of the competition after facing all the challenges they encountered.
“I read about the financial problems affecting the team and I felt the need to make a big contribution.
“I am not doing this for media attention but to motivate a team with an indomitable spirit. I fell in love with the Nigerian team because despite all these problems they are in the semifinals of the Olympics.
“Whether they win or not, I will still donate something to help alleviate the challenges in paying their bonuses and allowances,” Takasu was quoted by BBC.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) were impressed by this gesture but are being careful.
"I have been in direct contact with Mr Takasu and impressed by his gesture," NFF vice-president Seyi Akinwunmi told BBC Sport.
"But we need not get carried away because the integrity of the country is at stake. First we must check about this. Significantly, the team has an important game and we need to focus on that."

IBB Promises to make National Assembly Part-time If Given the Chance

Former military president, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, has called for a part time legislature in order to cut the cost of governance in the country. Babangida made this call on Tuesday while addressing newsmen at an event to mark his 75th birthday‎ in Minna.

He said‎ although, a proposal by his regime to make the National Assembly part time in 1989 never came to fruition, he still strongly believed in it.

“In 1989, we proposed that the National Assembly should be made part time and I still believe if I have the opportunity, I will make it part time. “I strongly believe in it and it is all in the effort to reduce the high cost of governance‎ and I know I may be in trouble for suggesting part time legislature,” he said

On how he felt on hearing the rumour of his death in the media, the former military leader said that he was not surprised as it was not new.

“The first thing that came to my mind‎ was that it is not new; they did it to Nnamdi Azikiwe, they did it to Shehu Shagari and other elder statesmen, so it’s not a surprise. “As a Muslim, whether I like it or not I must die someday and so they are just stating the obvious but nobody knows the‎ time or place that It will happen,” he added.

Babangida also stated that he was not the evil most people thought he had been, explaining that by virtue of his profession, he was bound to be misconstrued. “I am not the evil quite a lot of you think that I am and I can understand that by virtue of the job I was doing, I was bound to be misunderstood.

“But I consider it all as an opinion and it is one of those things you have to live with but as long as I am not what you thought I was, I feel very much satisfied‎,” he added.

Dream Team VI Threatens To Boycott Olympic Quarter finals- Siasia backs them

The coach of Nigeria’s Olympic football squad, Samson Siasia, said on Friday that he will support players boycotting Saturday’s football quarter-final against Denmark over unpaid allowances.

“We have only been paid allowances for 11 days. There is no match bonus. What about all the months we have been training in Nigeria and Atlanta? That’s not fair,” Siasia told Nigerian radio.

Nigeria have been embroiled in one crisis after another during the Rio Games.

They were stranded for several days at their training base in Atlanta before flying to Brazil, and then the players had to beg Siasia not to quit after a win over Sweden.
“We have been disrespected from all angles – by the the sports ministry, the Nigeria Football Federation. Is that how you will treat your own children? We are not street kids,” Siasia said, adding that he had not received his salary “for the past five months”.

“Everything is upside down and the boys don’t want to play anymore. Whatever they want to do, I’m with them. They are right for fighting for their rights.

“I cannot do more than what I have done to get this team up to this level. I have done my best and now I am tired.”

Lagos State Government Shut Down 12 illegal Refineries!

The Lagos State Government on Friday shut 12 houses in Abeokuta and Ibadan Streets in Ilasamaja area of the State over discovery of shallow oil wells built by landlords to illegally scoop diesel from pipeline belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

The oil wells were said to have been built for the purpose of illegally scooping diesel and selling same to members of the public, while some of the affected landlords built pumping machine and bore hole to perpetrate the crime on a large scale.

The State's Commissioning for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde who confirmed this while briefing newsmen at the Lagos House, Ikeja, said the step to shut the wells and condone off the area was taken by government to forestall loss of lives and property as a result of the looming danger.

Ayorinde, who addressed journalists alongside top government functionaries and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, said a combined team from the police command, the Ministry of Environment, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, Lagos State Fire Service and Sole Administrator of Isolo Local Council Development Area carried out a thorough inspection of the entire area and discovered nothing less than 12 of the illegal oil wells.

He said that initial investigation revealed that a few of the landlords where the wells are located were taking advantage of the situation by commercializing the dangerous act.

He said that samples of the substance have been taken for immediate investigation in order to determine the true nature of the substance as well as the root cause of this usually occurrence.
He said the State Government was working with the NNPC for further investigation.

Ayorinde said that for the safety of residents, especially on Abeokuta and Ibadan Streets, the affected well have been sealed off, adding that the government would also work with those who are likely to be displaced as a result of the development.

“The Lagos State Government wishes to use this opportunity to remind Lagosians and the residents of these areas in particular, to assist the police with useful information and to urge them to always volunteer information before any potentially dangerous situation degenerates to public hazard,” he said.

Also speaking the Commissioner of Police confirmed the arrest of three suspects in the operation, adding that a fire tanker has been stationed in the event of any fire incident.

The men of the Lagos State Police Command in the area who were on routine patrol said they saw a woman around 12 midnight with keg of diesel and when an attempt was made for her to be accosted, she fled, a development which alerted the police of something fishy.

The police immediately pursued the woman and accosted her, after which she eventually took them to number 12, Abeokuta Street, off Ilasamaja, one of the houses housing the illegal oil wells.

Upon getting to the said house, those inside shut the door and prevented the police from gaining entrance.

The officers thereafter left the scene with the arrested woman, and they later came back disguising as potential buyers of diesel, while those inside opened the door.

It was at that point that the illegal oil well was discovered at the house, after which about ten more wells were discovered in other houses in Abeokuta and Ibadan streets.
