Failed Coup In Burkina Faso

Authorities in Burkina Faso say they have foiled an attempted coup to topple the government, accusing ousted former leader as the mastermind.
According to Africa Review The news was broken a few minutes ago in a tweet that did not provide details.
A local news website in the west African country reports that “30 former members of the presidential guard (RSP), who were behind the failed coup in 2015, were planning various actions to destabilise the country”, quoting Interior Minister Simon Compaore.

The 30 were fomenting attacks on home soil in an operation that was due to be launched on 8 October, it reports the minister as saying at a press conference.

He added that the plan was to target the presidential palace and the headquarters of the gendarmerie in the capital, Ouagadougou, and the detention centre where last year’s failed coup leaders were being held.
They also intended to create a mutiny in the army barracks and launch a rebellion using social media, Mr Compaore added.
